Anaplan is seeking a Principal Architect specializing in AI to join our innovative team in Manchester, United Kingdom. As part of the Predictive Intelligence engineering team, you will be responsible for the Syrup platform and the suite of forecasting and predictive services that support Anaplan’s tailored solutions. This team is instrumental in building and managing the machine learning platform, forecasting engines, and data processing services that provide essential insights to enterprise customers across various sectors, including retail and supply chain.

Your Impact

• Own the architecture and technical strategy for predictive intelligence services across multiple verticals.
• Drive a cohesive architectural approach to minimize duplication and create shared components for forecasting and data processing.
• Lead the design and implementation of key features and initiatives, including critical code development.
• Define and oversee the MLOps strategy for model training, deployment, and lifecycle management on Kubernetes across major cloud platforms.
• Establish engineering best practices focusing on scalability, fault tolerance, and operational excellence.
• Mentor senior engineers and collaborate with data scientists to improve technical quality and streamline the research-to-production process.
• Work with Product, Data Science, and Platform leadership to shape the technical roadmap and influence decisions on predictive intelligence.
• Represent the AI engineering organization in technical discussions and architectural reviews.

Your Qualifications

• Strong experience in Software Engineering, particularly in a Principal or Architect role managing large-scale systems.
• Deep expertise in Python and experience with high-availability production ML services.
• Hands-on experience with data and analytics platforms using technologies like Snowflake, Iceberg, Trino, and Postgres.
• Production experience with Kubernetes and familiarity with major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Knowledge of MLOps tools and methodologies, including model registries and CI/CD.
• Proven ability to lead architectural strategies across teams while balancing vision and practical delivery.
• Strong communication skills to convey complex technical concepts clearly.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with forecasting models in production, including gradient-boosted methods and neural networks.
• Background in retail, supply chain, demand planning, or financial planning.
• Experience with post-acquisition platform integration or architectural alignment across products.
• Contributions to open-source projects in ML infrastructure or data processing.
• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or related fields.
