About the Role

As a Backend Engineer at Intropic, you will collaborate with product managers, researchers, and fellow engineers to define system requirements and architecture. Your primary responsibilities include designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend services with a focus on cloud infrastructure, primarily on AWS. You will be responsible for writing clean, well-tested Python code, with opportunities to work with Go or Rust if desired. Deployment and operation of production systems will be a key part of your role, emphasizing system reliability, security, and performance. Additionally, you will use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices to manage cloud resources efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to define backend system requirements and architecture in a cloud environment.
• Develop scalable backend services, ensuring they are robust and maintainable.
• Write high-quality Python code, with potential to incorporate Go or Rust for specific tasks.
• Deploy and operate production systems on AWS, focusing on security, reliability, and performance metrics.
• Manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code tools to automate provisioning and configuration.

Candidate Requirements

• Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Self-motivated and eager to learn, with a strong interest in containerized backend development and cloud architecture.
• Proven experience with Python programming in a production setting.
• Experience designing and deploying cloud-native systems and architectures.
• Familiarity with debugging and troubleshooting using observability tools such as Prometheus and Loki.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Interest or experience in Go and/or Rust programming languages.
• Knowledge of graph databases or knowledge graphs, such as Neptune, Neo4j, or graph modeling on Postgres.
