Our client, a leading global company specializing in software and engineering technology, is seeking experienced Backend Software Engineers to join their team in Cambridge, England. This position involves working on a variety of new development initiatives for a major public-facing web and cloud platform that is extensively used worldwide by engineering professionals and communities.

The successful candidates will be part of a collaborative, cross-functional team responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable web services. You will contribute to projects that enhance the company’s web platform, ensuring system robustness and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and sustain scalable web services within a team environment.
• Work on innovative development projects for a prominent web and cloud platform used globally.
• Implement system integration solutions and ensure adherence to best practices in software architecture.
• Design database schemas and develop data solutions using relational and distributed databases such as MySQL, AWS RedShift, or Snowflake.
• Engage in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues to maintain system integrity.
• Communicate clearly with team members and stakeholders, including non-technical personnel.
• Take ownership of product features and contribute to ongoing platform improvements.

Required Skills and Experience

• At least five years of experience in developing web services and system integration.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture principles and design patterns related to web services.
• Experience with relational databases and distributed data systems.
• Proficiency in back-end development using Go and/or Python.
• Experience designing web services with a schema-first or top-down approach.
• Knowledge of GraphQL is a significant plus.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS and GCP.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to understand complex business workflows.
