Capgemini is seeking a highly experienced professional to join their team as a Pharma R&D Data Advisory Lead. This role involves guiding pharmaceutical and life sciences clients through digital transformation initiatives focused on research and development (R&D) processes. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor, helping clients leverage data, AI, semantic technologies, and automation to innovate and improve efficiency across the entire R&D lifecycle.
About the Team
The Data Powered Industries and Domains (DPID) team, part of Capgeminiâ??s Insights and Data division in the UK, is expanding its domain-specific capabilities. The team works at the core of key client relationships, providing expertise on complex data challenges, AI, and analytics. They focus on translating business needs into technological solutions that deliver measurable results, shaping and advancing clientsâ?? data and AI strategies.
Role Focus and Responsibilities
As a Pharma R&D Data Advisory Lead, your primary responsibility will be to advise life sciences clients on transforming their R&D functions through innovative data strategies. You will evaluate existing capabilities, identify opportunities for enhancement, and develop strategic roadmaps that promote scientific innovation, operational efficiency, and data quality. Your work will span multiple R&D functions including Discovery, Translational Sciences, Preclinical, and Clinical development.
You will collaborate with leaders across various R&D domains to ensure technology investments align with business goals. Your expertise will help establish trusted, interconnected data ecosystems by implementing governance frameworks, master data management, and interoperability standards. You will lead the application of semantic technologies such as ontologies and knowledge graphs to facilitate shared understanding across scientific and clinical data systems.
Further, you will identify opportunities for AI and automation, guiding clients on AI readiness, use case prioritization, and responsible adoption. Your strategic input will help design scalable, future-proof architectures that improve interoperability and reduce complexity. Building and maintaining strong relationships with senior stakeholders is essential, as is supporting business development through opportunity identification, proposal shaping, and client presentations.
Candidate Profile and Skills
The ideal candidate will possess a blend of pharmaceutical R&D domain expertise, consulting experience, and strong data and AI knowledge. Experience in leading advisory projects within the Life Sciences sector, especially involving data governance, semantic technologies, and modern data architectures, is highly valued. Familiarity with scientific informatics, laboratory, clinical, regulatory, and safety platforms is important.
Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences. A collaborative approach, comfort working in ambiguous environments, and a commercial mindset are essential. A passion for continuous learning and staying current with emerging technologies and industry trends is also expected.
Qualifications and Experience
