We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager for Corporate Tax Strategy to join our in-house Tax Advisory Corporate team at Liberty Global in Chelsea, London. This role involves addressing UK and international tax issues, including cross-border planning, structuring, and compliance. You will work within a diverse team, supporting Tax Directors and mentoring junior members, while delivering high-quality advice to Liberty Global group companies and senior management.
Key Responsibilities
- Optimize Liberty Global’s consolidated UK tax position.
- Provide technical advice on complex UK tax matters such as leases, controlled foreign companies (CFC), corporate interest restriction (CIR), and the small business corporation exemption (SBCE).
- Ensure the preparation of Tax Technical Memos for quarterly reporting.
- Manage the UK tax position, including safeguarding against CFC and hybrid mismatches, mitigating foreign exchange tax exposures from intercompany loans, and reviewing supporting documentation for various tax assessments.
- Project manage tax forecasting for various Liberty Global Group entities and liaise with Capital Allocation, Treasury, and Transfer Pricing teams for key tax inputs.
- Lead the preparation of UK tax forecasts and relevant assumptions for scenario planning.
- Provide tax technical advice across a range of projects involving multiple jurisdictions.
- Support Finance and M&A teams with tax modeling, structuring, and key tax issues during project evaluations.
- Prepare and oversee tax due diligence reports, identifying tax risks and opportunities.
- Support the business throughout the transaction lifecycle with clear tax recommendations for stakeholders.
- Build strong relationships with Treasury, Legal, Accounting, and M&A teams through innovative and sustainable solutions.
- Research and review complex tax concepts, providing key input to stakeholders on various business initiatives.
- Engage in tax modeling related to projects and assess interactions with current and future tax positions across jurisdictions.
- Collaborate with advisors to update transfer pricing benchmark studies and ensure current models are effective.
- Review local and master files prepared by the Liberty Blume shared service center.
- Take a strategic lead on transfer pricing projects, including bilateral advance pricing agreements (BAPAs) and M&A impacts.
- Support the training and development of junior team members.
Qualifications
- A chartered accountancy qualification such as CIMA, ACA, or a tax qualification (the latter is preferred).
- Experience in a Big 4 or top 10 firm as a Senior Manager or experienced Manager, or in a similar environment.
- In-depth understanding of UK and global tax principles, along with awareness of recent updates from OECD, EU, US, and other jurisdictions.
- A desire to work in a fast-paced environment, taking responsibility and ownership of assigned tasks.
- A proven career development path indicating readiness to become a future tax leader at Liberty Global or its operating companies.
- An agile individual capable of working independently and driving projects forward as a self-starter.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
