Google is seeking an experienced Data Architect specialized in Google Cloud to join their team and help drive data solutions for enterprise clients, particularly within the financial services industry. This role involves acting as a key technical liaison for large, complex customers, fostering strong relationships with senior stakeholders such as CTOs, CDOs, and Data Architects. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive data governance frameworks, including tracking data lineage, managing metadata, establishing access controls, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations like GDPR, CCPA, and BCBS 239.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical contact for major financial services clients, building deep relationships with decision-makers and technical teams.
• Design and implement data governance structures that include data lineage, metadata management, access controls, and regulatory compliance.
• Develop strategies for distributing data responsibilities across various business units and technical teams, supporting decentralized ownership while maintaining centralized oversight.
• Create data capabilities that operate across on-premises systems and multiple cloud providers, ensuring data portability, interoperability, and seamless access.
• Identify and address data requirements for emerging agentic technologies such as real-time streaming, vector databases, and secure data sharing for autonomous systems.

Qualifications and Skills

• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant field.
• At least 7 years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or related areas.
• Minimum of 5 years working with data platforms and modern data technologies.
• Experience designing and deploying data solutions for enterprise clients, especially within the financial sector, utilizing hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
• Proficiency in data modeling and experience working with graph databases such as RDF or property graphs.
• Deep understanding of data governance, security, and compliance in highly regulated environments.
• Experience contributing to open-source data projects is a plus.
• Knowledge of machine learning and AI concepts and their application in data management and analysis.
• Awareness of emerging agentic technologies and their implications for data architecture.

Location and Compensation

This role is based in Frankfurt am Main, Germany; Zürich, Switzerland; Munich, Germany; or London, UK. The salary in Germany ranges from �148,000 to �151,000, supplemented by a 20% bonus target, equity, and benefits.
