About The Role

We are looking for a versatile and experienced Data Scientist to join our Functional Analytics team. The primary goal of this team is to design and develop new analytic capabilities, or “engines,” that are integrated directly into Anaplan Applications to solve complex enterprise business challenges. In this role, you will develop state-of-the-art machine learning models and pipelines to generate automated, actionable insights at scale. Beyond technical development, you will serve as a key technical partner for our customers, engaging directly with client data to customize and optimize our ML engines to fit their specific business contexts and data intricacies.

Your Impact

  • Customer onboarding and engine customization: Lead the technical deployment of analytic engines for new clients, working closely with customers, Customer Success teams, Product managers, and Engineers to adapt models that accurately reflect client-specific business logic, operational constraints, and data nuances.
  • Analytic engine development: Design and build scalable analytic capabilities that integrate seamlessly into Anaplan Applications, transforming raw data into high-value, automated insights for enterprise use.
  • Advanced modeling and forecasting: Develop and implement complex machine learning models, including LightGBM, XGBoost, and deep learning models using PyTorch, focusing on demand sensing and cold-start forecasting issues.
  • Feature engineering pipelines: Build and optimize scalable data pipelines using a hybrid SQL/Python architecture with tools like dbt and Snowflake to extract detailed temporal signals from high-volume transactional retail data.
  • MLOps and deployment: Collaborate with engineering teams to transition models from prototypes to reliable, scalable production pipelines, utilizing tools such as MLflow and Optuna for model tracking, monitoring, and deployment.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven professional experience in data science, with a history of building and deploying systems from initial prototypes to production environments in dynamic settings.
  • Strong foundation in predictive modeling, including experience with traditional ML algorithms, deep learning frameworks, and time-series forecasting techniques.
  • Expertise in Python programming, with proficiency in Pandas and adherence to modern software engineering practices such as testing, clean coding, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience optimizing data models and access patterns within modern data warehouses like Snowflake or Databricks, using SQL and transformation tools like dbt.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, and working with columnar data formats like Parquet.
  • Experience with MLOps tools for training, tracking, deploying, and monitoring models, including MLflow, Optuna, Prefect, or Airflow.
  • Desirable: Background in supply chain forecasting, enterprise AI, or retail analytics.
  • Educational background with a MasterĂ¢??s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field.
