Wipro Limited is seeking a highly experienced Data Center Architect to lead and support large-scale data center transformation projects for clients. This role involves end-to-end management, from strategic assessment and planning to designing target architectures, migration, governance, and execution oversight. The successful candidate will act as a trusted technical advisor, ensuring that the transformation is secure, resilient, compliant, and operationally efficient, while coordinating across multiple teams and technology domains.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess current data center environments, including compute, storage, network, virtualization, backup, disaster recovery, and operational processes.
- Develop comprehensive transformation strategies and roadmaps aligned with business drivers such as cost efficiency, resilience, and compliance requirements.
- Design and own the target data center architecture, covering compute platforms, hyper-converged infrastructure, storage strategies, network fabric, virtualization, security, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Create detailed architecture deliverables, including high-level and low-level designs, reference architectures, and design patterns, ensuring operational supportability.
- Plan and define migration approaches, including rehosting, replatforming, or refactoring, with detailed migration plans, dependency mapping, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Ensure smooth migration execution, including testing, failover, and stabilization activities to maintain service continuity.
- Establish architecture governance through design reviews, checkpoints, and risk management, ensuring adherence to standards and non-functional requirements.
- Guide multiple delivery streams to achieve integrated outcomes across compute, storage, network, security, and operational teams.
- Act as the primary technical contact for client stakeholders, communicating trade-offs, risks, and decisions clearly, and maintaining detailed documentation.
- Support knowledge transfer to client teams for operational readiness and steady-state management.
Required Skills & Experience
- Deep expertise in data center and infrastructure architecture, with proven leadership in large transformation programs.
- Strong practical knowledge of compute, storage, networking, virtualization, and disaster recovery within data centers.
- Ability to develop strategies and translate them into detailed, implementable designs.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging both technical teams and executive stakeholders.
- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible or Terraform is advantageous.
- Certifications like VMware (VCP/VCAP), TOGAF, Cisco (CCNP), or ITIL are preferred.
