Capgemini is seeking an experienced and passionate Director to join its expanding Water Sector team within the Energy Transition & Utilities practice. The UK water industry is currently navigating a critical period marked by sustainability goals, regulatory demands, aging infrastructure, and rising customer expectations. Success in this environment requires embracing innovative digital solutions such as data-driven decision-making, automation, IoT, and AI. Capgemini Invent is actively supporting some of the UK’s largest water companies through this transformation, and as demand for our expertise grows, we are looking for a strategic leader to help drive our initiatives forward.

Role Overview

As a key member of our Water Sector team, you will be responsible for leading the pursuit of new business opportunities and the delivery of complex transformation projects for major water companies across the UK. Your role involves shaping strategic direction, fostering business growth, building strong relationships with senior clients, leading high-stakes engagements, and supporting the development of our team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Development: Spearhead proposal development, bids, client pursuits, and industry events to promote Capgemini’s services and expand our market presence.
  • Project Delivery: Lead and oversee the successful execution of client projects, ensuring they meet quality standards, stay within budget, and are completed on time.
  • Practice Development: Contribute to the growth of the practice by supporting recruitment efforts, enhancing service offerings, and driving internal initiatives to build capabilities.
  • Learning & Development: Mentor and coach team members to support their professional growth, while actively pursuing your own development goals.
  • Thought Leadership: Engage in producing industry insights, publishing articles, and representing Capgemini at conferences and industry forums.

Candidate Profile

Ideal candidates will have extensive consulting experience within the UK water sector, with a history of working with prominent water companies. You should possess exceptional consulting skills, demonstrated through work in leading consultancies or industry roles, and have a proven ability to develop new propositions, grow business, and lead high-performing teams. Experience delivering digital transformation projects across water operations, waste management, or corporate functions is essential, along with strong relationship management skills with senior clients. A deep understanding of regulatory challenges, market trends, and future sector directions is required. The role demands an entrepreneurial approach, independence, collaboration, and a passion for coaching others. Willingness to travel and work at client sites is expected. Expertise in advisory services related to water and waste operations, asset management, capital projects, digital solutions, AI, IoT, automation, digital twins, and BIM will be highly advantageous.
