The UK water sector is currently undergoing a significant transformation, facing numerous challenges such as sustainability targets, regulatory demands, aging infrastructure, and rising customer expectations. Success in this environment depends heavily on adopting innovative technologies at scale, including digitalisation, data-driven decision making, automation, Internet of Things (IoT), and artificial intelligence (AI). Capgemini Invent is actively supporting some of the largest water companies in the UK to navigate this complex transition.

As demand for our consulting and advisory services grows, we are seeking an experienced and passionate Director to join our expanding Water Sector team within the Energy Transition & Utilities division. This role involves leading the pursuit and delivery of major transformation projects, working closely with prominent water companies across the UK. The successful candidate will help strengthen our market position, set strategic direction, and drive business growth, while also nurturing client relationships at a senior level and supporting the development of our team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Development: Spearhead proposal development, bids, client pursuits, and industry events to attract new opportunities and expand our market presence.
  • Project Delivery: Lead complex client engagements, ensuring projects are delivered successfully, meeting quality standards, staying within budget, and adhering to timelines.
  • Practice Development: Support recruitment efforts, enhance service offerings, and contribute to internal initiatives aimed at building capabilities within the practice.
  • Learning & Development: Mentor and coach team members to foster their professional growth, while actively pursuing your own development.
  • Thought Leadership: Contribute insights through market reports, publications, and speaking engagements to position Capgemini as a sector leader.
  • Client Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with senior clients, providing strategic advice aligned with sector trends and regulatory challenges.
  • Strategic Planning: Help define the future direction of the Water Sector practice, identifying new opportunities and expanding Capgeminiâ??s influence in the UK water industry.

Candidate Profile

  • Significant consulting experience within the UK water sector, with direct experience working with major water companies.
  • Exceptional consulting skills, demonstrated through work in large consultancy firms or industry roles, capable of leading complex projects.
  • Proven success in developing business propositions, driving growth, and leading high-performing teams.
  • Experience delivering digital transformation initiatives across capital projects, operations, or corporate functions.
  • Strong relationship management skills with senior clients, understanding regulatory and market dynamics.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently or collaboratively.
  • Passion for coaching, mentoring, and talent development.
  • Flexibility to travel and work at client sites across the UK as needed.
  • Expertise in advisory, consulting, and transformation services, including digital solutions such as IoT, AI, automation, digital twins, and BIM.
