As the Electronics Laboratory Lead, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the Bristol electronics laboratories, ensuring they are well-equipped for teams engaged in pioneering AI computing. Your primary responsibility will be to guarantee the safe and efficient operation of the labs, facilitating critical engineering and operational tasks.
Your role will involve transforming intricate lab requirements into reliable environments that allow teams to work more effectively. You will manage various aspects of the lab, including test equipment, infrastructure, ESD controls, and maintenance schedules, while also overseeing the technical readiness of the facilities.
In addition to these responsibilities, you will lead a team of technicians who support a diverse range of lab users. This hands-on leadership position grants you the authority to shape lab operations, enhance processes, and resolve issues that may hinder progress.
Team and Culture
You will be part of the DC Engineering Team, collaborating closely with Facilities, Supply Chain, Quality, Product Test and Diagnosis, Infrastructure Solutions, and Hardware Engineering. The work environment is characterized by clear priorities, practical decision-making, and direct collaboration with teams utilizing the labs. You will have the autonomy to set standards and improve processes, ensuring safety and technical readiness while maintaining a swift pace of work.
What Weâ??re Looking For
- Strong technical understanding of electronic test equipment, lab infrastructure, setup, calibration, and troubleshooting.
- Practical knowledge of ESD prevention, control systems, audits, and training.
- Deep understanding of health and safety requirements in electronics laboratory environments.
- Ability to work with engineering teams to plan, configure, and support technical lab setups.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors for maintenance, calibration, upgrades, or specialist technical services.
- Leadership skills to build, manage, and mentor a team of technicians.
