We are offering a significant opportunity for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join a team based in Gloucestershire, England. This role involves leading and actively participating in the entire lifecycle of embedded firmware development, focusing on creating reliable and efficient software suitable for real-world devices and applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying embedded firmware, primarily using C language.
The ideal applicant will have at least ten years of professional experience in firmware or embedded C programming. They should have hands-on expertise working with microcontrollers such as STM32 and PIC32, demonstrating a strong understanding of embedded hardware and firmware integration. Experience with Python scripting is also required, which may be used for automation, testing, or auxiliary development tasks.
Knowledge of communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, and Serial interfaces is essential for ensuring proper device communication. The candidate should be familiar with both real-time operating systems (RTOS) and bare-metal programming approaches, allowing flexibility in development environments. A good understanding of hardware schematics is desirable, with some interest or experience in PCB design or review being advantageous.
Experience with embedded Linux systems, including working with System on Chip (SoC) or System on Module (SOM) platforms, would be beneficial but is not mandatory. The role offers a super salary, competitive within the range of £55,000 to £65,000, along with a benefits package and the option to work in a hybrid setting, combining remote work with on-site presence.
