Role Overview

The Engineering Manager’s main focus is on delivering high-quality software products while fostering team growth and individual development. Key Responsibilities

  • Support teams in achieving their goals by removing blockers and helping measure performance for greater impact.
  • Create strategic team charters (Team APIs) to align teams around shared missions and broader product and business targets.
  • Work closely with Product Managers to prioritize technical investments alongside new features, ensuring balanced product development.
  • Coach teams to conduct effective delivery ceremonies, ensuring communication is clear and efficient while respecting team members’ time.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement through coaching and constructive feedback, promoting an inclusive and psychologically safe environment.
  • Lead hiring efforts to build diverse, skilled teams and work actively to retain top engineering talent.
  • Establish strong cross-team collaborations and lead complex projects that require coordination across multiple teams.
  • Balance technical expertise with business understanding to maximize impact and ensure delivery aligns with organizational goals.
  • Support change management initiatives, helping teams adapt to evolving technical landscapes.
  • Engage with senior leaders such as the CTO and Head of Engineering to support engineering practices and community growth.

Candidate Profile

  • Experience in managing software delivery with excellent stakeholder communication skills, capable of handling project constraints effectively.
  • Strong technical background with a history of leading teams to deliver solutions that prioritize quality, security, and customer satisfaction.
  • Hands-on experience with relevant technical stacks, demonstrating technical proficiency and coaching ability.
  • Embodies servant leadership, with humility and a focus on team growth and success.
  • Proficient in agile methodologies and engineering best practices.
  • Ability to foster an inclusive environment and promote psychological safety within teams.
  • Experience in hiring, developing, and retaining diverse engineering talent.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, especially with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Comfortable managing change and guiding teams through technical and organizational evolution.
