Cloudflare is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead its Edge Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team based in London. This role involves overseeing a team dedicated to maintaining the reliability and scalability of Cloudflare’s edge network services, which are critical for delivering fast, secure, and resilient internet experiences worldwide.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and mentoring a team of SREs, fostering their professional development, and empowering them to make impactful decisions. You will help your team develop and execute personal growth plans aligned with Cloudflareâ??s strategic goals. A key part of your role will be shaping the teamâ??s project priorities, ensuring that reliability remains a top focus, and collaborating with other engineering managers across the organization to achieve overarching reliability and performance objectives.
Technical leadership is essential, as you will participate in detailed design discussions, oversee the development of tools and practices for debugging, monitoring, and measuring system performance, and lead efforts in incident analysis and resolution. Your team will work on building and maintaining tooling for production monitoring, incident management, and system automation, utilizing observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Jaeger, OpenTracing, Thanos, and Clickhouse.
The role requires a strong background in distributed systems, proxies, DNS, databases, internet protocols, and security. You should have hands-on experience developing APIs and operational tools, along with a proven track record of managing projects from inception to deployment. Your leadership will be vital in ensuring high system availability, security, and performance, especially in a fast-paced environment with short release cycles.
