Our client, a rapidly expanding sensing technology company based near Bristol, is seeking an experienced FPGA Engineer to join their on-site development team. This role involves contributing to the creation of advanced distributed fibre sensing instruments that are used globally to monitor vital infrastructure such as borders, pipelines, railways, and power networks. The successful candidate will be part of a fast-paced, collaborative environment working alongside scientists and engineers to bring innovative products from initial concept through to real-world deployment.
This position is primarily hands-on, focusing on both research and development of new FPGA-based products and making improvements to existing platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in FPGA design, particularly with VHDL, and experience working with Xilinx tools and hardware.
Key Skills and Experience Required
- Deep expertise in VHDL hardware description language, especially using Xilinx Vivado design suite.
- Ability to design multi-clock domain FPGA systems with effective timing closure techniques.
- Experience implementing digital signal processing functions such as digital down conversion (DDC), filtering, and FFT algorithms within FPGA designs.
- Knowledge of Xilinx RFSoC Ultrascale+ architecture and its high-speed ADC and DAC peripherals.
- Strong understanding of high-speed digital and analog hardware design, along with debugging skills for complex hardware systems.
