Our client, a prominent global company specializing in software and engineering technology, is seeking to expand its software engineering team in Cambridge, England. The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of new development projects for a significant public-facing web and cloud platform that is widely used across the globe by engineering professionals and communities.
The role is for a Full Stack Software Engineer capable of working within cross-functional teams dedicated to designing, developing, and maintaining scalable web services. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful projects that deliver real value.
Key Skills and Experience Required
- At least four years of proven experience in full-stack web application development or a similar role.
- Extensive experience in front-end development using TypeScript, with a strong grasp of React. Experience with Next.js is considered a plus.
- Proficiency in backend development with Node.js or Go, and familiarity with Python is beneficial.
- Understanding of common software design principles and architectural patterns.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, capable of understanding complex business workflows and system processes.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with technical team members and explain concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- A proactive approach with a strong sense of product ownership.
Technical Skills and Knowledge
- Advanced expertise in front-end development with TypeScript and React; experience with Next.js is advantageous.
- Proficiency in developing backend services using Node.js or Go, with some experience in Python.
- Experience in designing and interfacing web services using top-down or schema-first approaches.
- Knowledge of GraphQL is a significant plus.
- Familiarity with relational databases such as MySQL.
- Experience with containerized development environments, CI/CD pipelines, and Kubernetes is desirable.
- Understanding of Elasticsearch is beneficial.
Work Environment and Location
This is an onsite role based in Cambridge. Candidates must be willing to commute to the office five days a week. The company offers modern, well-equipped office facilities with ample parking options.
