Apple is offering an exciting internship opportunity for students interested in the hardware design and development of graphics processing units (GPUs). This internship focuses on three core areas: RTL (Register Transfer Level) design, power optimization of RTL circuits, and physical design tasks such as layout and implementation. Interns will work closely with experienced engineers to contribute to the creation of high-performance GPU hardware components, ensuring they meet stringent performance and power efficiency standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design and development of GPU RTL components, applying digital design principles and verification techniques.
- Assist in optimizing power consumption in RTL designs to improve overall efficiency.
- Participate in physical design activities, including placement, routing, and layout planning to meet design specifications.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architecture, verification, and physical design engineers, to deliver integrated hardware solutions.
- Help test, debug, and validate RTL designs to ensure they function correctly and reliably.
- Document design processes, methodologies, and results to facilitate team knowledge sharing and project continuity.
Candidate Requirements
- Enrolled in a degree program related to Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or similar fields.
- Solid understanding of digital design concepts and verification methodologies.
- Experience with hardware description languages such as VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog.
- Knowledge of power optimization techniques in digital hardware design.
- Familiarity with physical design processes like placement and routing is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
- Effective communication skills, especially in documenting technical work clearly.
Benefits of the Internship
- Gain practical experience working on advanced GPU hardware projects.
- Receive mentorship from industry professionals and experienced engineers.
- Develop specialized skills in RTL design, power optimization, and physical design.
- Be part of a collaborative, innovative work environment that fosters learning and growth.
- Potential pathways to future employment opportunities within Apple or the broader technology sector.
