IAM Platform Engineer Authentication, Credentials & PAM Overview

We are seeking a skilled Identity and Access Management (IAM) Platform Engineer to enhance our authentication, identity federation, credential management, and privileged access platforms. This role is crucial in modernizing our identity infrastructure by transitioning from bespoke authentication methods to scalable, standards-based IAM services that are secure and user-friendly for engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement enterprise authentication and identity federation services.
• Develop standardized onboarding patterns for applications utilizing SAML, OAuth2, and OpenID Connect.
• Enhance and streamline the identity provider landscape, including platforms like PingFederate, PingAM, and cloud identity solutions.
• Engineer secure privileged access solutions using Teleport and Just-in-Time access methodologies.
• Establish standards for service accounts, certificates, secrets, and machine identities.
• Create APIs and automation tools to facilitate identity platform operations.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to provide reusable and secure authentication services.
• Increase operational maturity through effective monitoring, alerting, logging, documentation, and automation.
• Support the transition from custom authentication implementations to standardized enterprise IAM solutions.

Who We Are Looking For

• Proven experience in engineering and managing enterprise IAM platforms.
• Familiarity with enterprise identity providers such as PingFederate, PingAM, Microsoft Entra ID, or Okta.
• Strong knowledge of authentication, authorization, Active Directory, LDAP, and privileged access management.
• Experience with modern platform engineering practices, including infrastructure as code, CI/CD, automation, and observability.
• Software engineering skills in languages such as C#, Java, Python, or Go.
• Experience in building APIs and automating identity platform services.
• Ability to support hybrid on-premises and cloud identity platforms, including Kubernetes.
