Capgemini is seeking an experienced Lead Java Engineer to join their team in London, working within the Cloud & Custom Applications division focused on Financial Services. This role involves developing and implementing scalable, high-quality software solutions that support critical business functions and meet client expectations. The successful candidate will collaborate with various stakeholders including business leaders, product teams, architects, and engineers to translate requirements into effective, secure, and resilient applications. They will also be responsible for designing and building maintainable systems, integrating services to improve operational efficiency, and contributing to architectural decisions that promote scalability and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver scalable, high-quality software applications supporting vital business operations and client outcomes.
• Work closely with stakeholders to convert business needs into technical solutions.
• Design and build secure, resilient, and maintainable applications that meet performance standards.
• Create seamless integrations between business services and applications to enhance operational workflows and user experience.
• Participate in solution design and architectural decision-making to ensure systems are scalable and sustainable long-term.
• Identify opportunities for automation and AI-enabled innovations within application landscapes.
• Maintain high standards of code quality through peer reviews, testing, and continuous improvement practices.
• Troubleshoot complex issues efficiently to minimize business impact.

Required Skills and Experience

• Extensive experience delivering enterprise-scale, full-stack software solutions.
• Strong hands-on Java development skills, including modern enterprise application practices.
• Proficiency in Python programming.
• Experience designing and implementing distributed systems and microservices architectures.
• Deep understanding of API design, systems integration, and event-driven architectures.
• Experience developing responsive user interfaces and integrating frontend with backend services.
• Knowledge of relational databases, data modeling, and performance tuning.
• Understanding of software design principles, data structures, concurrency, and performance optimization.
• Experience working within Agile teams and collaborating across disciplines.
• Domain expertise in UK Broker Dealer and Capital Markets sectors is essential.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development and leveraging emerging AI capabilities to improve project outcomes.
