Our client, a leading-edge company specializing in audio artificial intelligence, is seeking a highly skilled Lead Machine Learning Engineer to join their team in London, England. This role involves guiding the strategic direction of research and development in audio-focused machine learning, with a focus on enhancing audio quality, clarity, and intelligence through advanced signal processing and deep learning techniques.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute the long-term research strategy and roadmap for audio machine learning initiatives, ensuring alignment with product goals and technological advancements.
• Identify emerging opportunities within deep learning for audio applications and evaluate their relevance and potential impact on future products.
• Manage multiple research streams concurrently, including projects such as audio super-resolution, speech enhancement, and speech-to-text conversion.
• Work closely with product teams and engineers to transition research models into scalable, production-ready systems that can be deployed at scale.
• Present research findings, technical insights, and project outcomes to stakeholders across engineering, product management, commercial, and executive teams.
• Promote a collaborative, open environment that encourages innovation, knowledge sharing, and a focus on practical, product-oriented research.

Candidate Requirements

• Possess a Masterâ??s or PhD degree in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Science or Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Have at least three years of experience leading teams in machine learning research or engineering roles.
• Demonstrate strong programming skills in Python and extensive experience with at least one modern ML framework such as PyTorch.
• Proven ability to apply and optimize AI/ML algorithms in environments focused on production deployment.
• Preferred: Knowledge of real-time audio signal processing or real-time machine learning applications.
• Preferred: Experience in audio super-resolution, speech enhancement, or speech recognition technologies.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex research outcomes to diverse audiences.
• A background or interest in music, signal processing, or related audio fields is a plus.
