G-Research, a leading firm in quantitative research and advanced technology, is seeking an experienced Lead Network Reliability Engineer to oversee and enhance the company’s network infrastructure. This role involves taking a hands-on leadership position to improve the reliability, performance, resilience, and security of network systems across data centers and office environments. The successful candidate will apply Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles, focusing on automation, observability, and proactive operations to reduce manual toil, improve visibility, and accelerate incident response times.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and promote SRE practices tailored for network management, emphasizing automation and the use of cutting-edge tools and technologies, including AI-driven solutions.
- Manage the end-to-end operational performance, stability, security, and availability of network and security platforms.
- Improve telemetry, alerting, and performance monitoring systems to enable proactive issue detection and resolution.
- Design and implement an event-driven, Infrastructure as Code-based network architecture to support scalable and flexible operations.
- Lead the response to critical network and security incidents by diagnosing issues swiftly, containing threats, and implementing permanent fixes, including root cause analysis to prevent future problems.
- Develop operational tooling, runbooks, and incident response frameworks to enhance service quality and operational efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvements to network resilience, scalability, and security, influencing cross-team processes and standards.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience as a technical lead in enterprise or large-scale network environments, demonstrating leadership and deep technical expertise.
- Strong knowledge of SRE, observability, and automation principles, with practical skills in scripting and programming languages such as Python.
- Hands-on experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry, and automation platforms such as Ansible and Jenkins.
- Familiarity with Cisco and Arista network hardware, including switches and routers, and network security infrastructure like firewalls and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
- Interest or experience in event-driven automation and AI-assisted network operations, leveraging emerging technologies for diagnostics and remediation.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across technical teams.
