Join a leading tech company as a Manager for Data Center Energy and Power Strategy in the EMEA region. This role is pivotal in ensuring a reliable, cost-efficient, and sustainable power supply for our data center assets.
Responsibilities
- Lead the comprehensive energy and power strategy for a portfolio of data center assets in the EMEA region, ensuring a reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable power supply.
- Conduct utility and grid due diligence for site selection, acquisition, and expansion in EMEA, evaluating grid capacity, interconnection feasibility, transmission constraints, and regulatory frameworks.
- Manage the energy supply planning for data centers throughout their lifecycle, including reservation, interconnection, permitting, energization, commissioning, and ensuring operational stability.
- Develop and implement the electricity procurement strategy, including structured energy sourcing and negotiating long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with utilities and renewable energy providers.
- Create and execute renewable energy sourcing strategies to meet corporate carbon neutrality and ESG goals, identifying opportunities in wind, solar, hydro, and nuclear-backed grids.
- Perform ongoing analysis of EMEA energy markets, pricing dynamics, and regulatory developments, monitoring shifts in energy policy that affect grid access and carbon pricing.
- Drive energy cost optimization throughout the lifecycle, including analyzing tariff structures and exploring demand response opportunities, while supporting financial modeling for energy-related capital and operational expenditures.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in utility, infrastructure, energy, or hyperscale data center development, with a strong background in power and utility systems.
- At least 3 years of direct experience in managing utility agreements, energy procurement, or large-scale power infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated experience in EMEA energy markets, including understanding grid capacity constraints, interconnection processes, and electricity market structures.
- Experience in supporting or leading data center power strategies, including developments in power shell, greenfield and brownfield site development, and utility-scale load interconnection.
- Strong knowledge of the commercial and technical aspects of energy procurement, including Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), tariffs, and hedging structures.
- Familiarity with renewable energy integration strategies and pathways for grid decarbonization in Europe.
- Willingness to travel across the EMEA region as required.
