Fractile is seeking a Member of Technical Staff specializing in Security Engineering to join our team in London or Bristol on a hybrid basis. Founded in 2022, Fractile is dedicated to revolutionizing the hardware that powers advanced AI systems, aiming to enhance the speed and efficiency of output generation.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in developing the security framework that governs our control chain, which includes devices, boards, chassis, and rack controllers. This involves creating threat models, establishing trust boundaries, and ensuring a secure-by-design approach across all platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Shape the security of the control chain by developing threat models and trust boundaries.
• Design and implement secure boot processes and root of trust for controllers, focusing on verified boot and access restrictions.
• Secure interconnects between controllers and devices through authentication and integrity measures.
• Develop cryptographic mechanisms for key management and remote attestation.
• Ensure safe firmware updates with rollback protection and effective recovery strategies.
• Harden the host Linux kernel and on-die firmware for enhanced security.
• Collaborate with hardware and software teams to integrate security into products, conducting reviews and resolving vulnerabilities.

Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of security fundamentals with practical experience in threat modeling and risk assessment.
• Hands-on experience with secure boot, root of trust, cryptography, and key management.
• Proficiency in designing secure communication protocols.
• Strong programming skills in C and Rust, emphasizing memory safety.
• Experience in building security mechanisms rather than just using them.
