Join us for a 10-week summer internship program focused on Natural Language Processing (NLP) at a leading quantitative research firm. This internship offers a unique opportunity to dive into the world of quantitative finance, where you will work on challenging research projects that apply innovative mathematical and computational analysis.
As an NLP intern, you will be paired with a mentor who will guide you throughout your internship, providing valuable feedback and support. You will have access to extensive computing resources, allowing you to explore and experiment with various NLP applications. At the end of the program, you will present your research findings to senior management, showcasing your insights and contributions.
Responsibilities
- Participate in a 10-week summer internship program focused on Natural Language Processing (NLP).
- Engage in a meaningful research project applying innovative mathematical and computational analysis techniques.
- Collaborate with a mentor who will provide guidance and feedback throughout the internship.
- Present research findings and ideas to senior management at the conclusion of the internship.
- Utilize extensive computing resources to explore and experiment with NLP applications.
Requirements
- Post-graduate degree in Natural Language Processing or a related field, or equivalent commercial experience in developing machine learning algorithms.
- Strong track record in data science competitions, such as Kaggle, preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience working with large, noisy text datasets and building models for information extraction, sentiment analysis, or semantic understanding.
- Strong programming skills in Python, with proficiency in modern machine learning frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Publications in reputable NLP or machine learning conferences (e.g., ACL, EMNLP, NAACL, NeurIPS, ICML) are advantageous.
- Strong mathematical and problem-solving abilities, with a capacity to develop novel models when standard methods are inadequate.
- An interest in finance and a willingness to learn, although prior experience in finance is not required.
