As a Network Design Engineer at Google, you will play a crucial role in shaping the infrastructure that supports millions of Internet users worldwide. The Network Engineering team is dedicated to ensuring the reliability and scalability of Google’s network. Your contributions will directly influence design and feature enhancements, ensuring smooth operations and efficient network performance.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing and enhancing Google’s network architecture standards to design global infrastructure that meets capacity needs and service-level objectives while balancing capital and operational expenditures.
- Incorporating newly introduced products into planning and design, ensuring that toolsets and business processes are prepared for these new products.
- Evolving business processes throughout their lifecycle, including input gathering, generation, validation, publication, and handoff.
- Supporting the establishment and maintenance of business practices and policies in network planning and design, focusing on improving performance, reliability, and risk reduction.
- Creating and promoting automation tools and scripts for network planning and design, contributing to the automation roadmap to significantly reduce cycle times and enhance quality and consistency.
To qualify for this role, you should have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 3 years of experience with network routing protocols, design, and troubleshooting, particularly with network equipment providers.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) or Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) or network system design operations.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as C++, Go, or Python.
- Experience with coding and scripting languages, particularly Go or Python, and SQL scripts.
- Familiarity with Content Distribution Networks (CDN), IP transit/peering, dark fiber, colocation, optical transport, and cloud technologies.
In return, Google offers a competitive salary ranging from â?¬100,000 to â?¬103,000 (EUR) plus a 15% bonus target, equity options, and a comprehensive benefits package. This position is available in a hybrid working pattern, allowing you to work from either Dublin, Ireland, or London, UK.
