This role is central to ensuring the power efficiency and performance of our advanced compute solutions. Our work involves not just designing sophisticated System-on-Chips (SoCs), but also shaping the future of chip design by influencing design flows, Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools, and building knowledge bases that enable high-performance, low-power chip development. Our efforts span multiple divisions, driving improved implementation for Arm and our partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define and implement power management specifications for SoC designs, focusing on power efficiency and system performance.
  • Create, update, and validate complex UPF (Unified Power Format) files that specify power domains, states, retention strategies, level shifters, and isolation mechanisms.
  • Maintain and merge UPF files across different hierarchical levels of the chip, ensuring consistency and correctness throughout the design process.
  • Analyze tradeoffs related to the Power Domain Network (PDN) and power distribution strategies, aligning them with the overall power intent.
  • Assist partners and internal teams in achieving high-quality results in power management and system integration.

Required Skills and Experience

  • A degree at bachelorâ??s or masterâ??s level in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Deep understanding of power management concepts such as voltage islands, power domains, power states, and control architectures.
  • Proficiency in UPF standards (2.0, 2.1, 3.0, 3.1) and experience with formal verification methods for low power designs.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.
