About the Role

As a Principal Firmware Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining low-level firmware in C, ensuring high performance and reliability. You will work closely with hardware and systems engineers to support chip bring-up, hardware integration, and real-time system development. Your role will involve leading technical efforts, owning features and workstreams, and mentoring junior engineers to foster team growth. Your expertise will contribute to the successful delivery of complex firmware components that enable advanced satellite communication capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and sustain low-level firmware code in C tailored for satellite communication systems, ensuring robustness and efficiency.
• Collaborate with hardware and systems teams to facilitate chip bring-up, hardware integration, and real-time system development.
• Take ownership of specific features and workstreams within projects, ensuring timely and quality delivery.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers, supporting their professional development.
• Contribute to the design, implementation, and testing of firmware components that support advanced beamforming and wireless platforms.
• Assist in hardware integration and debugging to optimize system performance and reliability.
• Participate in project planning, technical reviews, and process improvements to enhance firmware development practices.

Candidate Requirements

• Significant experience in low-level firmware development using C language.
• Strong background working within real-time or embedded systems environments.
• Practical experience working close to hardware, including driver development and chip-level software.
• Proven ability to mentor and lead engineering teams, demonstrating leadership qualities.
• Experience delivering features and managing workstreams within complex projects.
• Deep understanding of hardware integration, chip bring-up, and real-time constraints.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot hardware-software interactions effectively.
