Microsoft is seeking a highly skilled Principal Technical Program Manager to join the Front Door Engineering (FDE) team. This role involves leading and managing complex technical programs that align with Microsoft’s strategic objectives. The successful candidate will oversee cross-functional teams, including engineering, product management, and operations, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to high standards. Responsibilities include defining program goals, managing stakeholder communication, identifying risks, and driving continuous process improvements. The role requires a deep understanding of software development processes, excellent leadership and communication skills, and experience managing large-scale technical initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and lead intricate technical programs within the FDE team, ensuring alignment with company goals and delivery schedules.
  • Manage diverse teams across multiple functions, facilitating collaboration from project initiation to deployment.
  • Establish clear program objectives, success metrics, and communicate progress effectively to all stakeholders.
  • Proactively identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate issues that could impact project timelines or quality.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to understand technical requirements, constraints, and innovations, translating these into actionable project plans.
  • Implement continuous improvements in program management processes, tools, and methodologies to increase efficiency and quality.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate policies, security standards, and industry regulations throughout project lifecycles.
  • Mentor and onboard team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and high performance.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Significant experience in managing large, complex technical programs, ideally within software engineering or cloud services sectors.
  • Proven leadership in guiding cross-disciplinary teams and coordinating multiple stakeholders to meet project goals.
  • Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle, agile project management, and relevant tools.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences and senior executives.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to overcoming project challenges.
  • Experience working with international teams across different time zones and cultural backgrounds.
  • BachelorĂ¢??s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; advanced degrees are advantageous.
  • Relevant certifications such as PMP, Scrum Master, or Agile certifications are preferred.
