Category IT Jobs
Job Type Full Time
Location Bristol

Fractile is seeking a highly skilled Product & Yield Engineer with a focus on data analysis to join their team in Bristol. This role involves working with large and complex datasets related to semiconductor manufacturing and testing, aiming to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for process improvements that enhance product yield and reliability. The successful candidate will analyze data from various stages such as wafer fabrication, IC assembly, and other manufacturing processes, providing clear and actionable insights to engineering teams and manufacturing partners.

The responsibilities include developing automated workflows, dashboards, and reports to streamline investigations, as well as collaborating across teams involved in New Product Introduction (NPI), Yield Engineering, and Product Quality. The engineer will utilize statistical methods like SPC, hypothesis testing, and trend analysis to interpret data, identify yield signatures, outliers, and failure mechanisms, and support failure analysis activities through data-guided testing strategies. Effective communication of findings through visualizations and reports is essential, as is the ability to manage multiple investigations independently and work in a collaborative environment. International travel may be required to coordinate with global partners.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Extensive background in the semiconductor industry, with experience in Product, Test, Yield, Data Analytics, or Quality Engineering, covering both NPI and high-volume production phases.
  • Proven ability to analyze manufacturing and test data to detect trends, excursions, and yield loss causes, with a strong understanding of wafer fabrication and IC assembly processes.
  • Familiarity with datasets such as WAT, WS/CP, and FT, and the capability to correlate data across different manufacturing stages.
  • Strong skills in data mining, statistical analysis, and root cause investigation, with experience using industry-standard analysis tools like yieldHUB, Spotfire, or JMP.
  • Ability to develop scripts, dashboards, and automated workflows for routine analysis and reporting tasks.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control, distributions, correlation analysis, and hypothesis testing applied to semiconductor data.
  • Understanding of failure analysis techniques and the ability to interpret data to guide destructive and non-destructive testing.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting complex data insights clearly and effectively.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and capable of managing multiple investigations simultaneously, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as needed.
  • Educational requirement: a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electronics, Microelectronics, Semiconductor Physics, Engineering, or a related discipline.

What We Offer

  • A salary package that is competitive and commensurate with experience.
  • Equity participation, enabling team members to share in the company’s growth and success.
  • Benefits including private medical, dental, and vision insurance, along with a contributory pension scheme.
  • 25 days of holiday plus bank holidays, plus life and critical illness insurance coverage.
  • A vibrant, inclusive office environment that values diverse perspectives and innovative problem-solving.
  • The opportunity to contribute to pioneering AI hardware and semiconductor projects backed by significant investment from leading venture capital firms.
