Role Overview

This position involves managing the procurement and sourcing of electronic components and manufacturing services, ensuring that supply chain decisions are optimized for cost, quality, and scalability. The successful candidate will work at the intersection of engineering, manufacturing, and procurement, providing technical expertise and strategic oversight to support the company’s hardware development and production processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take charge of sourcing activities for electronic parts such as ICs, passives, PCBs, connectors, and electromechanical components, as well as engaging with EMS and contract manufacturing partners.
  • Offer technical guidance during supplier selection, component qualification, and sourcing decisions to ensure optimal choices aligned with project needs.
  • Manage RFQs, develop detailed cost analyses, and evaluate suppliers both technically and commercially.
  • Lead cost reduction initiatives through should-cost modeling and continuous improvement strategies.
  • Act as the technical liaison with component manufacturers, distributors, and manufacturing partners, fostering strong relationships and negotiating terms related to pricing, lead times, MOQs, and capacity commitments.
  • Support supplier audits, capability assessments, and qualification processes to maintain high standards.
  • Assist in sourcing activities during new product introduction phases, from initial concept to mass production, including BOM cost analysis and sourcing readiness checks.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to influence component selection based on availability, lifecycle, and risk factors.
  • Manage product change notices, end-of-life strategies, and last-time-buy planning in partnership with engineering and operations teams.
  • Support engineering change orders and component transitions to ensure smooth implementation.
  • Identify and mitigate supply risks, including single-source dependencies and long lead times, by developing alternative sourcing strategies and contingency plans.
  • Work across functions such as engineering, manufacturing, quality, finance, and program management to ensure supply chain transparency and alignment.
  • Provide regular reports on costs, supplier performance, supply risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Mentor junior team members within procurement and supply chain functions as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related technical field (BachelorĂ¢??s or MasterĂ¢??s preferred).
  • At least 8 years of experience in electronics procurement, supply chain engineering, or manufacturing sourcing roles.
  • Strong knowledge of electronic components, EMS/CM operations, and global electronics supply chains.
  • Proven experience managing complex sourcing projects and supplier negotiations.
  • Excellent technical judgment and analytical skills, including cost modeling and BOM analysis.
  • Ability to influence engineering and operational teams without direct authority.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and advanced Excel capabilities.
  • Preferred: Experience with global component distributors, allocation management, and working within regulated environments.
