Appian is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to serve as the Regional Vice President for the UK Banking and Financial Services sector. This executive role involves overseeing all sales activities within the financial services domain, with a focus on driving revenue growth, managing a team of Enterprise Account Executives, and engaging directly with senior financial industry stakeholders. The position is based in London and follows a hybrid working model, combining remote work with on-site presence as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute all strategic sales efforts across the UK financial services market, consistently achieving or exceeding revenue targets on a quarterly and annual basis.
  • Mentor and support a team of high-achieving Enterprise Account Executives, guiding them through complex sales cycles with structured methodologies such as MEDDPICC, Value Selling, and Challenger Sales.
  • Manage territory planning, quota allocation, account segmentation, and pipeline development across various financial sectors including retail banking, investment banking, capital markets, and asset management.
  • Engage directly with C-level executives, risk officers, and technology leaders to articulate the value proposition of Appianâ??s automation solutions in core financial operations.
  • Collaborate with strategic consulting partners, including Big 4 firms, to expand market reach, co-sell solutions, and accelerate customer value realization.
  • Coordinate with internal teams such as Professional Services, Marketing, Business Development, and Finance to ensure seamless customer onboarding, retention, and expansion.
  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans, manage pipeline forecasting, and oversee territory and account prioritization.
  • Lead high-stakes negotiations, pricing discussions, and contract negotiations to secure multi-million-pound transformation projects.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A bachelorâ??s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 15 years of enterprise SaaS sales experience, with a successful record of selling into major financial institutions such as retail banks, investment banks, or asset management firms.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience in building, mentoring, and managing sales teams through periods of rapid growth and change.
  • Expertise in enterprise sales frameworks including MEDDPICC, Value Selling, and Challenger Sales.
  • Strong executive-level skills in territory planning, complex negotiations, pricing strategies, and pipeline management.
  • Extensive network within the consultancy and advisory space, with a history of co-selling alongside Big 4 firms and global system integrators.
  • Deep knowledge of UK financial regulations, including KYC/AML compliance, risk management, and operational transformation in banking.
  • Experience with enterprise platforms such as Salesforce or ServiceNow is highly advantageous, as these skills are relevant to Appianâ??s orchestration environment.
