As a Research Engineer in Quantum Computing at Google DeepMind, you will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between research and practical implementation. This position is ideal for an innovative engineer passionate about the transformative potential of AI in scientific endeavors.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of complex research and engineering projects, implementing and scaling machine learning solutions that intersect with quantum computing.
- Translate both classical and quantum algorithms into efficient and maintainable code, ensuring a balance between implementation speed and design simplicity.
- Enhance communication between research and engineering teams by promoting best coding practices, advocating for code readability, and drafting effective design documentation.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in machine learning, engineering, and software development, particularly using Python.
- Familiarity with data structures and algorithms in either academic or professional environments.
- A PhD in a relevant scientific or computational discipline is preferred.
- Experience with agentic AI and modern machine learning techniques such as diffusion models, transformers, and large language models.
- Understanding of quantum computing principles.
