G-Research is seeking a Software Engineer to join its Security Automation Engineering Team. This role involves designing and implementing automated detection and response capabilities to safeguard G-Research’s complex infrastructure, which includes high-performance computing environments, Azure, and AWS. As a member of this team, you will play a crucial role in building secure, scalable, and reliable automation systems that enhance the organization’s cyber resilience.

The responsibilities of this position include:

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining automated detection and response systems across hybrid environments.
  • Writing high-quality, well-tested Python code while adhering to secure engineering practices.
  • Implementing and managing infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins and ArgoCD.
  • Collaborating with the CSIRT and other security teams to integrate data and automation from various security tools.
  • Participating in code reviews to promote quality, maintainability, and security.
  • Engaging in architectural discussions and design reviews, providing feedback and insights on implementation strategies.
  • Monitoring system performance and reliability, identifying opportunities for operational improvement.
  • Working with stakeholders to understand automation requirements and deliver robust solutions.
  • Continuously improving development processes, documentation, and engineering standards within the team.

To be successful in this role, candidates should have:

  • Strong Python development skills and an understanding of secure software engineering in complex environments.
  • Practical experience in building and maintaining production systems on major public cloud platforms (AWS or Azure).
  • Familiarity with DevOps and infrastructure automation tools such as Jenkins, ArgoCD, Terraform, and Ansible.
  • Exposure to security operations tooling like SIEM, XDR, or SOAR platforms.
  • Experience working in agile delivery teams and collaborating with diverse technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for building clean, maintainable, and scalable systems.
  • A growth mindset and a desire to continuously improve systems and personal skills.
