Bloomberg is seeking a highly experienced professional to serve as the Senior AI Risk Technical Advisory Lead within their Legal, Compliance, and Risk division in London. This role involves providing expert guidance on AI and generative AI systems across various facets of Bloombergâ??s operations, including product development, internal tools, automation, and third-party AI solutions. The successful candidate will evaluate and advise on risks such as bias, explainability issues, hallucinations, robustness, model drift, data leakage, privacy breaches, security vulnerabilities, intellectual property concerns, misuse, transparency, and human oversight challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer senior-level technical advice on AI use cases, ensuring controls, testing, monitoring, and documentation meet risk mitigation standards.
  • Review high-risk AI applications and provide strategic recommendations to governance bodies and senior leaders.
  • Assist in developing and refining Bloombergâ??s AI risk management framework, including classification, assessment, and control standards.
  • Translate external regulatory frameworks and industry standards into practical internal guidance for technical teams.
  • Create reusable materials such as playbooks, review checklists, and documentation templates to support AI risk management.
  • Develop and support monitoring systems for AI performance, bias, drift, hallucination, security, and user feedback.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Technology, Product, Data, Legal, Compliance, Privacy, and Procurement to address emerging risks and facilitate technical discussions.
  • Serve as a senior escalation point for complex AI risk issues and responsible AI challenges.
  • Participate in governance forums, provide updates to executive management, and support regulatory inquiries and internal reviews.
  • Act as a trusted internal expert on responsible AI, providing training and guidance to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on advancements in AI technology, regulations, and industry standards, integrating these insights into program enhancements.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Over ten years of experience in AI/ML, data science, machine learning engineering, or related fields such as technology risk, model risk, or responsible AI initiatives.
  • Minimum of four years focused specifically on AI/ML risk management, governance, validation, or advisory roles.
  • Deep technical understanding of AI/ML and generative AI systems, including model development, evaluation, data pipelines, embeddings, retrieval-augmented generation, prompt engineering, and safety testing.
  • Proven ability to assess AI risks and recommend practical controls within complex enterprise environments.
  • Hands-on experience with generative AI platforms, open-source models, vector databases, or similar AI infrastructure tools.
  • Strong collaboration skills with engineering, product, legal, compliance, privacy, security, and risk teams.
  • Comprehensive understanding of privacy, security, data governance, and relevant regulatory issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex AI risks to senior stakeholders and translating governance expectations for technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working directly with AI/ML development teams on production systems.
  • Background in financial services, market data, media, enterprise technology, cloud computing, or other data-intensive sectors.
  • Familiarity with frameworks such as NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 23894, EU AI Act, OECD AI Principles, and model risk management standards.
  • Experience with AI red teaming, bias testing, explainability tools, monitoring solutions, MLOps, LLMOps, or AI governance platforms.
  • Advisory experience on third-party AI tools, enterprise AI platforms, or AI-enabled vendor solutions.
  • Certifications or advanced training in AI/ML, data science, privacy, security, or compliance.
  • A pragmatic approach to balancing innovation with risk management.
