About the Analytics Engineering Organization
The Analytics Engineering team is a fundamental part of Deliveroo’s Analytics organization, working alongside Data Science. With over 70 Analytics Engineers located in the UK and India, we are integrated within product and business domains, managing the pipelines, models, and metrics that facilitate large-scale decision-making. Our focus is shifting towards creating AI-driven data products and empowering self-service data users.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead multiple analytics engineering teams across various business domains, managing AE Managers and overseeing their performance, development, and wellbeing.
- Develop and maintain the mid-to-long-term analytics engineering roadmap, identifying key investment opportunities and presenting them to senior business and product stakeholders.
- Contribute to organization-wide decisions regarding tooling, architecture, standards, and processes to enhance the overall functionality of Analytics Engineering at Deliveroo.
- Promote a data products mindset within the teams, ensuring clear ownership, service level agreements (SLAs), observability, and data contracts are integrated into team workflows.
- Mentor and support AE Managers in their roles, addressing performance, motivation, and team health challenges while fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with the recruiting team to attract and hire diverse analytics engineering talent across the organization.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in a leadership role within Analytics Engineering, Business Intelligence Engineering, or Data Engineering, with a strong foundation in SQL.
- Proven track record of managing both managers and individual contributors, successfully developing leadership skills within the organization.
- Ability to manage a multi-quarter technical roadmap and oversee teams across various business domains in a matrixed environment, demonstrating measurable business impact.
- Strong technical knowledge of modern analytics engineering tools, including cloud data warehousing, transformation tools, data modeling, and data quality practices.
- Experience engaging and influencing stakeholders at the Director or VP level, aligning analytics initiatives with business priorities.
