Position: Senior Automation Tester (Java API / Selenium / Cucumber)

Location: New York

We are looking for a Senior Automation Tester with 10+ years in software quality engineering to design, build and maintain automated test frameworks for web applications and REST APIs. You will own API and UI automation in Java, write BDD scenarios with Cucumber, and work closely with developers and product owners in an Agile team.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain automation frameworks in Java for REST API and web UI testing.
• Automate API tests with REST Assured / Java HTTP clients; validate payloads, status codes, schemas, authentication and error handling.
• Build UI automation with Selenium Web Driver using Page Object Model and reusable components.
• Write BDD feature files and step definitions with Cucumber (Gherkin), together with business analysts and product owners.
• Use Postman for exploratory API testing, collections and environment setup; convert manual checks into automated suites.
• Integrate test suites into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Git Hub Actions or Azure Dev Ops) and report results.
• Analyze failures, log clear defects in JIRA and work with developers on root cause.
• Review test coverage, mentor junior testers and improve automation standards.

Mandatory Skills

• 10+ years in QA / test engineering, with 6+ years in test automation.
• Strong Java for test automation (OOP, collections, exception handling).
• API testing in Java (REST Assured or similar) and Postman.
• Selenium Web Driver.
• Cucumber BDD (Gherkin feature files, step definitions, hooks).
• TestNG or JUnit, Maven or Gradle, Git.

Nice to have

• CI/CD integration (Jenkins, Git Hub Actions, Azure Dev Ops).
• SQL for data validation.
• Performance testing basics (JMeter).
• Cloud (AWS / Azure) or microservices testing.

Engagement:
