As a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer at Amazon, you will play a crucial role in shaping the analytics that drive business decisions at the executive level. This position requires you to define key metrics, create data products, and provide analyses that are essential for high-stakes decision-making. You will work closely with business leaders to tackle complex, ambiguous problems that cannot be resolved through standard reporting methods.

Your responsibilities will include leading analytics on executive projects from inception to actionable recommendations, building and managing the necessary data pipelines, models, and dashboards, and ensuring that reliability is a fundamental aspect of your work. You will also set the standards for metric definitions, oversee finance and operational reconciliations, and maintain data quality across the team. Mentoring junior Business Intelligence Engineers will be part of your role, as you help elevate their skills in SQL, data modeling, and analytical rigor. Additionally, you will present your findings to senior leadership, demonstrating key leadership principles such as Ownership and Have Backbone; Disagree & Commit.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in programming for the extraction, transformation, and cleaning of large data sets (multi-TB).
  • Strong understanding of experimental design and statistical analysis.
  • Familiarity with AWS technologies.
  • Proficiency in scripting for automation, especially with Python, and advanced SQL skills.
  • Knowledge of information retrieval, data science, machine learning, and data mining.
  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate data insights into business needs.
  • Competence in data visualization tools such as Tableau, Quicksight, or similar.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in managing, analyzing, and communicating results to senior leadership.
