We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Computer Vision Engineer to join an innovative space technology company based in Oxfordshire, England. This organization specializes in developing advanced autonomous systems designed for spacecraft operations, inspection, and navigation in complex and challenging environments. The role involves creating state-of-the-art perception and vision algorithms that will be integral to future space missions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop sophisticated perception and vision algorithms tailored for space applications, enabling autonomous spacecraft functions such as navigation and inspection.
  • Transform conceptual perception models into practical software solutions, ensuring thorough testing, validation, and deployment in safety-critical embedded systems.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to integrate perception systems seamlessly with other spacecraft components, supporting autonomous operations.
  • Perform comprehensive testing and validation of perception algorithms, assessing their performance and robustness before deployment.
  • Analyze operational data to refine and improve perception algorithms, enhancing their accuracy and efficiency over time.
  • Maintain high standards in software development workflows, including version control with Git, and adhere to best practices in testing and system integration.

Candidate Requirements

  • A masterâ??s degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, or a related STEM field is required.
  • Minimum of five yearsâ?? experience developing computer vision algorithms in industry or research settings.
  • Strong expertise in computer vision, image processing, machine learning, and deep learning techniques.
  • Proven ability to take perception algorithms from initial concept through testing, validation, and deployment phases.
  • Proficiency in Python and C++, with hands-on experience using frameworks such as OpenCV, PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar.
  • Experience working with sensor perception systems involving cameras, LiDAR, or multiple sensors.
  • Knowledge of software testing, integration workflows, and version control systems like Git.
  • Experience in robotics, autonomous systems, embedded software, or safety-critical environments is considered a plus.
  • Familiarity with sensor fusion, ROS/ROS2, navigation, or space systems is advantageous.
