Our international client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Epitaxy Equipment Engineer to join their team in Northamptonshire, England. This role involves providing essential equipment engineering support to the epitaxy department, ensuring high operational uptime, assisting with production processes, troubleshooting equipment issues, performing maintenance, and implementing continuous improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily maintenance activities in partnership with Manufacturing and Process teams to ensure equipment runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize MOVPE (Metal-Organic Vapor Phase Epitaxy) and MOCVD (Metal-Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition) equipment used in semiconductor fabrication.
  • Support the installation, commissioning, and upgrading of equipment, including procurement of new tools and systems.
  • Design and implement preventative maintenance plans to maximize equipment availability and performance.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to shift technicians, supervise contractors, and coordinate with service engineers.
  • Assist with equipment relocations, cleanroom projects, and shutdown activities, which may occasionally require working during weekends or outside regular hours.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of five years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, wafer fabrication, or epitaxy engineering roles.
  • Proven experience working with MOVPE and/or MOCVD equipment is required.
  • Strong knowledge of vacuum systems, high-vacuum technology, pumps, leak testing procedures, pneumatics, and PLC systems.
  • Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical schematics accurately and efficiently.
  • HNC or degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent apprenticeship qualification.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience with Aixtron MOVPE reactors or other Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) systems.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor process gas systems and mass flow controllers.
