As a Senior Front-end Engineer, you will be instrumental in advancing our platform into a leading secure note-taking and productivity solution. We are looking for a passionate engineer with expertise in client-side architecture and system design, who thrives in a collaborative environment. You will work closely with Product, Design, API teams, and fellow engineers to drive data-informed decisions that enhance user experience.

Current Projects

The Standard Notes team is focused on developing a suite of tools that help users manage their knowledge while ensuring the highest standards of security and privacy. Recent initiatives include enhancing editor capabilities, improving data organization, and optimizing cross-platform synchronization. You will be involved in architecting features such as encrypted search, tagging systems, and advanced note formatting, all built with React and TypeScript, secured with end-to-end encryption.

Technical Stack

• JavaScript, TypeScript, React, ES6, Playwright, Jest, Grafana

Our codebases are open source, and you can explore them here. The challenges of encryption in front-end development require innovative solutions, especially for features like search and syncing, which must operate within a secure environment.

What You Will Do

• Develop, deploy, and support high-quality user experiences across our product portfolio.
• Transform product specifications into technical requirements and lead your team through implementation.
• Enhance the development lifecycle and tools for an improved developer experience.
• Write clear, concise, and testable code to maintain code quality.
• Scope, plan, and execute new features and technical initiatives.
• Foster a culture of learning and accountability through mentorship.

Job Requirements

• Deep understanding of JavaScript methodologies and design patterns.
• Proficiency with TypeScript or similar typed languages.
• Experience with React or at least two similar frameworks.
• Strong understanding of software engineering best practices.
• A product mindset focused on user experience.

Bonus Points For

• Familiarity with common security issues in client-side development.
• Experience with UX, accessibility, and localization.
• Knowledge of monitoring platforms like Grafana.
• Experience with NodeJS.
• Understanding of cryptography concepts.
