About the Role
You will be responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining sophisticated software models that simulate the performance characteristics of cutting-edge Arm CPUs. Your work will involve close collaboration with hardware design teams worldwide to explore and refine micro-architectural ideas, focusing on optimizing power efficiency and performance. You will evaluate innovative concepts through C++-based models, helping to guide the design decisions that will define next-generation products for various sectors including mobile, IoT, and enterprise computing.
Team Impact
The performance team within the CPU group is dedicated to early-stage performance analysis, which directly influences the architecture and capabilities of future Arm processors. Your contributions will help identify micro-architectural improvements and performance trade-offs, ensuring the success of upcoming products in competitive markets.
Responsibilities
- Drive the technical direction of the team by developing and maintaining performance models of advanced CPUs.
- Work with hardware engineers to explore design space, focusing on power and performance enhancements.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers, sharing your expertise to foster their development.
- Enhance modeling methodologies to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Coordinate with global teams on methodologies, strategies, and integration activities.
Required Skills and Experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across remote and local teams.
- Deep understanding of CPU micro-architecture concepts and performance modeling techniques.
- Hands-on experience in developing and analyzing performance models, especially using C++.
- Experience with exploring micro-architectural ideas and evaluating their impact on CPU performance and power.
- Proficiency in C++ programming, including software design, coding, testing, and debugging.
Additional Skills (Nice to Have)
- Experience in team leadership, task planning, and project delivery.
- Knowledge of RTL and SystemC simulators.
- Experience with power modeling tools and techniques.
- Familiarity with Arm architectures and instruction sets.
- Understanding of system architecture, OS internals, and system software.
- Proficiency in Unix/Linux development environments.
- Educational background in electronic engineering or computer science; relevant practical experience is also valued.
