Kpler is seeking a highly skilled Senior Refined Products Inventory Analyst to join their team in London. This role is vital in enhancing Kpler’s storage intelligence capabilities and expanding their new inventory product from regional hubs to a global scale. The analyst will operate at the intersection of data management, satellite imagery validation, and oil market analysis, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and strategic value of the company’s worldwide refined products dataset.
Key Responsibilities
- Map and classify storage assets: Identify, map, and categorize refined product storage facilities, blending units, and interconnection networks based on product type and operational function.
- Satellite imagery validation: Use satellite and thermal imagery to verify tank structures, estimate fill levels, and detect operational anomalies across key energy hubs.
- Optimize workflows: Develop and refine scalable procedures for onboarding terminal data, quality assurance, and automated processing, working closely with engineering and data teams.
- Integrate market context: Apply operational knowledge of refinery storage, blending, and transportation methods such as pipelines, barges, trucks, and ships to maintain data integrity during disruptions or maintenance.
- Support global expansion: Lead the rollout of data collection and validation from current European and North American hubs to new regions worldwide, establishing robust methodologies.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Work with research, commercial, and product teams to share methodologies, incorporate client feedback, and support sales initiatives.
- Client support: Respond swiftly to ad-hoc client requests with detailed analysis, partnering with sales and customer success teams, and feeding insights into internal systems.
Experience & Qualifications
- At least five years of experience in inventory intelligence, terminal logistics, or oil market data analytics and operations.
- Strong technical skills with data handling tools such as Excel, SQL, or Python for processing and auditing complex datasets.
- Ability to work independently, build operational workflows from scratch, and resolve detailed data issues remotely.
- Preferred: Deep understanding of refined products storage infrastructure, including tanks for gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and fuel oil, along with blending and dispatch practices.
- Preferred: Experience collaborating across product, engineering, and commercial teams within a commodity or market data setting.
- Preferred: Experience working with satellite, aerial, or thermal imagery to validate assets and extract operational insights.
