Our client, a leading global semiconductor company based in Cambridge, is seeking an experienced Senior RF IC Design Engineer to join their high-tech team specializing in wireless communication technology. This role involves working within a strategically important RF IC design center focused on developing RF transceivers for 5G and future 6G wireless systems. Overview of the Role

The Senior RF IC Design Engineer will be responsible for defining specifications, designing, implementing, and verifying complex analog and RF circuit blocks and subsystems. These include critical components such as filters, low noise amplifiers, power amplifiers, and mixers, all aimed at achieving optimal performance on the first silicon iteration. The engineer will work closely with transceiver architecture teams to optimize RF IC layouts and ensure designs meet stringent performance standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed specifications for RF integrated circuits tailored for 5G applications.
• Design and develop RF circuit blocks, ensuring they meet performance and reliability standards.
• Implement and verify RF circuit designs through simulation and testing processes.
• Collaborate with layout teams to optimize RF IC layouts for maximum efficiency and performance.
• Conduct thorough analysis and troubleshooting during the design and testing phases.
• Coordinate with manufacturing teams to facilitate successful silicon fabrication and testing.
• Keep abreast of advancements in wireless communication technology, especially the evolution from 5G to 6G, and incorporate relevant innovations into design work.

Candidate Requirements

• Possession of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in RF circuit design within advanced CMOS process nodes, specifically 16nm or below.
• Strong analytical skills with a history of successful RF circuit development and delivery.
• Deep understanding of modern transceiver architectures used in wireless systems.
• Practical knowledge of RF IC layout optimization techniques.
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment on complex projects.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
