This role involves leading measurement and validation activities as a Senior RF Test Engineer within a highly innovative environment focused on developing advanced RF solutions for mobile and connected devices. The Senior RF Test Engineer will be responsible for overseeing RF measurement, characterization, and validation tasks across various RF modules and complete systems. This includes ensuring that RF performance aligns with simulation and design expectations, providing critical feedback to design teams, and developing robust testing methodologies. The role is highly hands-on, requiring practical expertise in RF testing, troubleshooting, and infrastructure management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead RF characterization and validation efforts for RF modules and systems, ensuring precise measurement and analysis of RF parameters.
- Design, develop, and maintain reliable RF test setups for product evaluation, ensuring repeatability and accuracy.
- Perform RF measurements in accordance with 3GPP standards, including LTE and 5G NR, and analyze the results to assess device performance.
- Provide measurement-driven insights and feedback to RF design and system teams to support product development.
- Create and automate RF testing routines and scripts using programming languages such as Python or MATLAB to improve testing efficiency.
- Enhance RF measurement techniques, improve laboratory practices, and standardize documentation to ensure high-quality testing processes.
- Troubleshoot complex RF test setups and hardware issues encountered during development phases.
- Support design review meetings by offering RF performance insights based on measurement data.
- Maintain and calibrate RF lab equipment, ensuring ongoing measurement accuracy and operational readiness.
Candidate Requirements
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related discipline.
- Extensive practical experience in RF testing, characterization, and validation processes.
- Experience performing RF measurements for cellular systems, particularly LTE and/or 5G NR.
- Strong understanding of RF fundamentals including S-parameters, impedance matching, gain, noise figure, and linearity.
- Hands-on experience with RF laboratory instruments such as VNAs, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators.
- Proficiency in developing automated test setups and scripting measurement routines using Python, MATLAB, or similar tools.
- Ability to interpret RF schematics, debug hardware issues, and analyze RF system behavior.
- Experience in maintaining RF test environments and infrastructure is essential.
- Leadership experience in measurement activities or mentoring junior engineers is a plus.
