Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the production environment, ensuring system availability and maintaining a holistic view of system health.
  • Develop software and systems to manage platform infrastructure and applications effectively.
  • Enhance the reliability, quality, and speed of delivery for our software solutions.
  • Measure and optimize system performance to anticipate customer needs and drive innovation.
  • Provide primary operational support and engineering for various large distributed software applications.
  • Collect and analyze metrics from operating systems and applications for performance tuning and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with development teams to improve services through rigorous testing and release procedures.
  • Engage in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning.
  • Create sustainable systems and services through automation and improvements.
  • Balance feature development speed with reliability, adhering to well-defined service level objectives.

Qualifications

  • 3 to 6 years of experience in a similar role, focusing on systems engineering, automation, and reliability.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Go, Java, C#) and experience with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, PowerShell).
  • Deep understanding of cloud computing platforms, especially AWS, and the reliability constraints of key services (e.g., EC2, ECS, Lambda, DynamoDB).
  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as CloudFormation and Terraform.
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD concepts and experience with tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or CircleCI.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, Cloudwatch).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in distributed systems.
  • Experience in incident management and conducting blameless postmortems, including leading incident response efforts during outages.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with large Kubernetes clusters.
  • Certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or Google Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer.
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
