You will lead key product features from conception to launch, making pragmatic architectural decisions that balance speed and scalability, and ensuring high-quality delivery through robust validation and engineering practices.
Your Role and Responsibilities
- Take charge of developing major product surfaces and services, owning features from initial design to operational deployment.
- Define product scope and success metrics in ambiguous situations, aligning stakeholders on objectives and completion criteria.
- Develop and ship software that integrates AI throughout the entire development lifecycle, maintaining high standards of correctness and quality with clear validation practices.
- Track and improve engineering metrics such as lead time, pull request throughput, defect rates, test coverage, and incident load, continuously refining team delivery processes.
- Make architectural decisions that balance rapid development with long-term scalability, knowing when temporary solutions should become permanent.
- Implement engineering best practices, including testing strategies, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and sensible release procedures, to sustain high-quality standards without impeding progress.
- Collaborate effectively with Product and Design teams to prioritize features, sequence development tasks, and deliver high-value product increments even when teams are not physically co-located.
- Mentor engineers and foster a culture of trust, ownership, and continuous improvement within the team.
Location and Working Pattern
This position is based in our London office, following a hybrid work schedule. Employees are expected to work onsite from Tuesday to Friday, with the option to work remotely on Mondays, unless an approved workplace accommodation is in place. Our office is conveniently located near Monument Station, and we believe that in-person collaboration enhances innovation, mentorship, and team cohesion.
Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelorĂ¢??s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
- Over seven years of experience in software development, including ownership of product features in a live environment.
- Extensive experience delivering AI-native solutions, with demonstrable examples of integrating AI across the SDLC to accelerate delivery and improve quality.
- Strong engineering judgment, especially when working with uncertain or complex problems, with the ability to simplify and build effective solutions.
- Experience designing and building cloud-native services and scalable user interfaces.
- Comfort working across multiple disciplines, including product management, design, and platform dependencies.
- Good product judgment to frame problems, define MVP scope, make trade-offs, and achieve measurable customer outcomes.
Preferred qualifications include prior experience in startup or internal incubation environments, integrating AI or large language models responsibly, providing technical leadership to accelerate team progress, and working in environments where engineers contribute to product discovery and prioritization.
