Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain large-scale event streaming systems supporting vital production processes.
• Enhance system reliability, scalability, observability, and automation for platforms like Kafka and EventBus.
• Diagnose and resolve complex issues within distributed systems, including performance and reliability challenges.
• Develop automation tools and self-healing mechanisms to improve operational efficiency and system resilience.
• Engage in incident response, operational readiness, and continuous improvement efforts for Tier-0 infrastructure.
• Collaborate with teams across US and EU regions, including EventBus, Storage, SRE, Data Platform, and Core Infrastructure teams.
• Contribute to the strategic architecture and future development of Deliverooâ??s event streaming platform.

Candidate Requirements

• Practical experience working with distributed systems in a production environment.
• Experience with Kafka or similar event streaming technologies, either as a platform or critical dependency.
• Strong coding skills in Java, Go, Python, or comparable languages, emphasizing reliable and maintainable code.
• Experience operating and troubleshooting scalable production infrastructure, with a focus on reliability improvements.
• Good understanding of infrastructure automation, observability, capacity management, and operational best practices.
• Basic knowledge of Linux, networking, and JVM-based systems, or a desire to deepen expertise in these areas.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills, capable of working across multiple technical teams.
