Arm is seeking a highly experienced Senior Software Technology Manager to join our team in Cambridge, UK. In this role, you will work closely with our key customers to define and prioritize requirements for software enablement and optimization, ensuring that solutions are effectively delivered within Arm’s extensive software ecosystem. Your responsibilities will include developing strategic plans for software development, configuration, and productization, as well as managing multiple technology areas to meet the growing demand for software on Arm-based platforms.
Role Overview
As part of Arm’s Central Engineering Software group, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the roadmap and vision for software activities, including development, configuration, optimization, and delivery. Your work will involve creating strategies around both new and existing software components to support Arm’s diverse product portfolio. You will gather and analyze use-cases from various market segments to inform product planning and ensure solutions meet complex system needs.
You will also engage with open-source communities and industry partners, promoting Arm’s software solutions and gathering valuable feedback. Collaboration with internal teams such as project managers, system architects, engineering leads, and product managers will be essential to deliver high-quality software products and communicate their value effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess the entire value chain involving end users, hardware manufacturers, and system designers, focusing on productization, support, and quality assurance.
- Translate market segment needs into detailed product plans, prioritizing features and enhancements based on customer feedback and competitive analysis.
- Conduct competitive analysis to identify Arm’s strengths and areas for improvement relative to competitors.
- Represent Arm in open-source communities, customer meetings, sales presentations, and training sessions to promote and evangelize our software offerings.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience in developing and managing software requirements, with an understanding of validation and quality assurance processes in a product delivery context.
- Excellent communication skills to articulate ideas clearly and collaborate effectively with team members, customers, and suppliers.
- Background in software development, including experience with firmware, operating systems, or application software.
- Motivated self-starter capable of working independently while contributing to a global team.
- Willingness to travel internationally, with travel commitments up to 25%.
- Educational background with a university degree in a numerate subject is preferred; relevant experience may suffice.
- Knowledge of open-source software development lifecycle and typical software stacks, including non-functional aspects like performance and integration maturity, is advantageous.
- Experience with software product development, delivery lifecycle, and defining requirements for quality and performance is beneficial.
- Additional experience in technical product management, technology sales, or marketing roles is a plus.
- Experience working in environments involving hardware design and proof-of-concept software development is desirable.
- Understanding of non-functional requirements such as system performance and safety considerations is advantageous.
