Join Arm’s Solution Engineering team as a Senior Subsystem & SoC Design Engineer, based in Cambridge. This role involves working within a dynamic front-end design group responsible for creating complete subsystem solutions, including GPU and control subsystems, for a variety of markets such as automotive, mobile, server, and more. The team leverages Arm IP and third-party components to develop integrated, optimized subsystem designs that are incorporated into System-on-Chip (SoC) products aimed at edge AI, physical AI, and cloud AI applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage in the full cycle of subsystem and testchip development, from specifications to verification.
  • Develop RTL code using SystemVerilog or Verilog HDL, ensuring designs meet all specifications and constraints.
  • Create and deliver critical design artifacts, including synthesis constraints (SDC) and power intent files (UPF).
  • Integrate various IP blocks into cohesive subsystem designs.
  • Perform design checks such as static timing analysis, power analysis, and clock domain crossing verification to ensure design integrity.
  • Collaborate with verification teams to review test plans, debug issues, and validate design functionality.
  • Work with implementation teams to optimize designs for performance, power, and area.
  • Plan tasks, track progress, and report status to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.
  • Contribute to micro-architecture specifications and participate in design reviews to align with project goals.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Hands-on experience with RTL design using SystemVerilog or Verilog HDL for complex digital systems.
  • Strong understanding of RTL design principles, including static checks, power management, and clock domain crossing.
  • Knowledge of computer architecture fundamentals and experience designing components such as CPUs, GPUs, multimedia IP (camera, display, video), interconnects, memory controllers, and peripherals.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Perl, or UNIX shell scripting for automation and documentation.
  • Ability to produce detailed specifications and documentation for hardware designs.
  • Experience with large-scale SoC development projects, ideally involving ARM architectures and standards.
  • Familiarity with ARM-based designs, ARM system architectures, and AMBA standards is a plus.
  • High-level programming skills in C, C++, or assembly language are advantageous.
  • Experience with functional safety standards such as ISO 26262 or IEC 61508, especially in automotive applications, is desirable.
