We are seeking a Senior Weather Strategist to join a successful global commodities trading firm based in London. This organization has a long-standing presence in Europe and is expanding its operations worldwide. The successful candidate will be part of a small, youthful team that integrates modeling and weather expertise to drive quantitative trading strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a small, dynamic team to develop quantitative trading strategies based on weather data.
• Utilize large weather datasets to generate unique insights that inform trading decisions.
• Engage in ensemble forecast verification and assess the strengths and weaknesses of ensemble predictions.
• Analyze ECMWF forecasts and other atmospheric variability predictions, focusing on sub-seasonal to seasonal data.
• Contribute to the energy transition efforts by leveraging knowledge in short-term energy markets and renewable energy.

Requirements

• Proven experience working with extensive weather datasets.
• Familiarity with ensemble forecast verification techniques.
• Knowledge of ECMWF forecasts and atmospheric variability.
• Strong interest in short-term energy markets and renewable energy.
• Ability to apply algorithms and data science principles in trading contexts.
